Let yourself be found

Share your Track and Location in real time.

What is trackzi

With trackzi you can share your live real-time location and track with anyone through simple sharing of a unique random link. You are fully anonymous and nobody can see your location unless he has the link. There is also no personal information needed. Furthermore you can delete your data anytime and recreate a new link through creating a new nickname. The nickname can be anything and is only used to display a name on the map.
trackzi records your location every couple of seconds via GPS and sends it back to the server via your mobile network. You can share your track to anyone who should know where you are if you get lost or if somebody needs to know where exactly you are in real-time.

FAQ

Q: What does trackzi do?
A: trackzi records your location every couple of seconds via GPS and sends it back to the server. You can share your track to anyone who should know where you are if you get lost.

Q: Why is the track colored ?
A: If you use the same path multiple times you can see which points belong to which path.

Q: Why are there sometimes gaps in the track?
A: trackzi optimizes battery usage through enabling and disabling GPS if you are in motion or not. If you change from not in-motion to in-motion it may take some time until the device recognizes this change. This is also heavily dependent on the device type and cannot be influenced that much.

Q: Why does trackzi suddenly stop tracking?
A: Most likely your phone (Android only) has a battery saver enabled. To use trackzi you need to disable the battery saver otherwise the operating system will kill trackzi running in the background. You can find more details at Don't kill my App

Q: If I go to settings what can I do there?
A: Currently you can set the accuracy of the tracking. You can set values of 10, 50, 200 Meters. This means how much distance you have to travel until the next point is recorded.

Q: What happens if I delete my track?
A: All of your track data will be deleted, no matter how long back.

Q: What will happen with my track data in general?
A: All your track data will automatically be deleted after 30 days.

Q: What is the nickname used for?
A: The nickname will only be used to show on the map - you can leave the default one or even leave it blank. Just image if someone receives two links from friends and opens the map. He does not know who is who when viewing the map (of course he would need to know the nickname).

Q: What happens if I change the nickname?
A: You can change your nickname anytime. But you need to share your link again as everytime you change the nickname (even if you choose the same) your old links will not work anymore.

Q: Do you record any other data?
A: No. We do not record usage data, analytics or something else, only your location data.

Q: What about privacy?
A: We do not store any personal data. You are completely anonymous.

Q: How do you record location?
A: Location is recorded only by the GPS signal.

Q: Does trackzi need a data/network connection?
A: Yes, of course. It constantly sends the location update back to the server. So your location will be always updated in real time. If the data connection is lost it stores the information locally until the connection is back and then sends all stored locations back to the server.

Q: How much data will be transferred?
A: Location updates will be sent a couple of times per minute. 1 hour of location updates is about 1MB.

Q: How much battery does it use?
A: trackzi is very battery cautious. But of course very granular location updates requires GPS to be mostly on. 5 hours of tracking should not use more than 50% of your battery.

Q: Which permissions does trackzi need?
A:
1. Location always
2. Motion & Fitness on
3. Background updates on
trackzi needs to always use Location permission (as it always updates your location information in the background) and also activity permission. The activity permission is needed as it detects if the device is in motion. If it is not in motion trackzi shuts down the GPS reception and therefore saves battery. If you havent set these permissions correctly you can always change them in the App Settings in the phone settings.

Q: How accurate is trackzi ?
A: trackzi is as accurate as possible. However, locations which are not accurate within 50 meters will be filtered out.
